Fingertips Across Your Skin

I brushed your hair with my fingers.
You sang me a sweet lullaby.
We walked along the streets and I took your hand.
We danced under the moonlight.

Can't you see how much this hurt?
Can't you tell I am drowning?
I cannot step out into the loneliness of nights.
I cannot wake up in the morning.

When you left you kissed me on my lips.
You said, "Goodbye, my dream lover."
I cannot take you out of the images in my mind.
I thought we were always meant to be.

Can't you feel the sorrow in the air?
Can't you hear my silent cries?
I cannot move my feet outside into the light.
I cannot find the air to breathe.

You told me you will never forget,
How I ran my fingertips across your skin.
